James J. (Pete) Boaz, 81, of Shelbyville passed away at 5:38 p.m. Thursday (April 2, 2009) at The Arthur Home, Arthur.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the First Presbyterian Church, Shelbyville.
He was born May 9, 1927 in Charleston the son of Archie Edmond and Thelma Gladys (Easton) Boaz.He married Violet Blankenship, April 2, 1950 in Shelbyville and she preceded him in death, March 16, 2006.
He was a member and former elder of the First Presbyterian Church, Shelbyville. He was formerly employed at Bitzer-Taggart Motor Co. in Shelbyville for 38 years.He loved to fish and spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving is daughter, Kim Jackson (Don) of Lovington, grandchildren, Josh Bales (Marie) of Rochester and Lindsay Blickenstaff (Wes) of Atwood; step-grandchildren, Andy Jackson of Mattoon and Brittany Jones (Jordan) of San Diego, CA; great-grandchildren, Kelsi, Austin and Jenna; step great-grandchild, Will; brother, Harry Boaz of Charleston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Betty and infant brother, Archie.
