Robert Dean Barnes 78, of Shelbyville, IL, formerly of Decatur, IL, passed away at 5:50 AM Tuesday May 5, 2009 in his home.

Bob was born Oct. 11, 1930 in Decatur, IL the son of John N. and Margaret I. (Albers) Barnes.

He married Ruby Eileen Moats April 2, 1951 in Decatur and she survives.

He was employed for 29 years at Superior Welding Co. in Decatur, where he developed many lifelong friendships and was respected by all.

Bob was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Ruby; children: son Robert E. Barnes and wife Nyla Peyton of Oakley, IL and daughter Roberta Barnes Moomey of Decatur; grandchildren: Amanda Ducey and husband Jake, Kristin Moomey, Margaret Moomey and Michelle Moomey; step-grandchildren: Daryl Jackson and wife Crystal and Holly H. Roe; great grandchildren Kain Deetz and Kyler Ducey; step great grandchildren: Ashlyn Jackson and Mason Dean Roe; brothers: William Barnes and wife Marie, Jack Barnes and wife Karen, Rick Barnes andwife Sandy , Kent Barnes and wife Sharon and Ron Barnes; sisters: Mary Highley, Beverly Carter and husbandClifford, Nancy Brennan, Phyllis Yonker and husband Tom , Patricia Blankenship and husband Charlie and Diana Smith; special nephew and niece: Pat and Debbie Highley; several nieces and nephews all special to Bob.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Ruth Hauk and Barbara Mansfield.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday May 9, 2009 in Brown Cemetery in Blue Mound Twp. Macon Co.Rev. Steve Devore will officiate. A luncheon for family and friends will be held immediately following the graveside at 1:00 PM at Antioch Christian Church at 5409 E. U.S. Route 36 in Decatur.Memorials can be made to Quad County Hospice of Pana or Cancer Care Specialists of Decatur.Arrangements are entrusted to Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.On line condolences may be directed to the family at www.lockartgreenfuneralhome.com.

The family would like to thank Dr. Guaglianone and the nurses of Cancer Care Specialists in Decatur, the nurses of 5100 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Dr. Dawood, Dr. Quershi, Dr. Hasnain, the Dialysis Centerin Shelbyville,Dr. Little and Staff and all of the neighbors and friends for support, food, mowing and just being there in our time of need.
