Keith R. Barnes 60 of Cowden, IL, passed away at 7:20 PM Thursday July 30, 2009 in his home.
Keith was born August 29, 1948 in Shelbyville the son of Frank E. and Leah Tucker Barnes.
Keith was employed at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Decatur for 30 years, retiring June 1, 1997.He also was a grain and livestock farmer.He raised Angus beef cattle.
Keith was an outdoorsman and especially loved deer hunting.He coached grade school basketball for 13 years.
Hewas a member of the Free Methodist Church of Cowden and the American Angus Association.
Keith served in the United States Army in the Viet Nam War from April of 1968 to April of 1970.
He married Wilma Nobbe Sept. 4, 1970 in Greenville, IL and she survives.Also surviving are sons: Michael Barnes and wife Debbieand Jason Barnes and wife Briananne both of Cowden; grandchildren: Wade, Lance, Doug and Justin; brothers: LorenBarnes and wife Sharon and Lyle Barnes and wife Carol both of Cowden; sisters Janice Garriott and husband Troy of Sullivan, IL and Karon Thompson and husband Warren of Cowden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Leah Barnes.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday Aug. 3, 2009 in the Free Methodist Church in Cowden.Rev. Jon Carrell will officiate.Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM Sunday in the Church.Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden.Arrangements are entrusted to Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden.Memorials can be made to the Free Methodist Church of Cowden or Lincolnland Hospice.On line condolences may be directed to the family at www.lockartgreenfuneralhome.com
