Marcella M. Barkhurst 87 of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 11:25 AM Monday Aug. 25, 2008 at her home.
Marcella was born Jan. 21, 1921 in Beecher City, IL the daughter of Bliss and Stella Griffith McNeely.
She married William Floyd Barkhurst July 23, 1948 in Decatur, IL and he passed away Mar. 9, 2002. She was member of the First Baptist Church of Shelbyville and was a 1939 graduate of the Lakewood, Illinois High School.
Marcella had an abundant, gentle spirit and was lovingly dedicated to her family.
Surviving are her sons: Joseph Barkhurst and wife Daphne of Calgary, Albert, Canada and James Barkhurst of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren: Dr. Judson Barkhurst ofEdmonton, Alberta, Canada, Stacey Barkhurst of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and Meredith Barkhurst of Decatur, IL; sister Vernonia Peek of Pana, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Floyd Barkhurst, her parents, brothers: Mac McNeely and Roland McNeely and a sister Kathleen Carey.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday Aug. 29, 2008 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.Rev. Dan Eloe will officiate.Visitation will be one hour before the service on Friday.Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville.Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church of Shelbyville.
