Anthony Drew Alday, 48, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 10:45 PM Monday Feb. 23, 2009 in his home.

Drew was born in Shelbyville, May 18, 1960 the son of Charles L. and Barbara R. McIntyre Alday.

He graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1978 and then from Lakeland College in Mattoon, IL with an associate degree in computer science.He then served in the United States Army for 6 years. He traveled thirteen states playing trumpet in the United States Army Band, and played TAPS at many military funerals.

He was a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 AF & AM for 12 years and an avid supporter of the Shelby County Humane Society.

Drew was the manager of City Package Liquor and then West Main Party House for 16 years, both in Shelbyville.

Drew loved the outdoors, spelunking and sport gun shooting.

Surviving are his long time friend Cathy Thomas and her five children; mother Rosemary Alday of Shelbyville; brothers: Scott and wife Vic of Hopkinsville, KY,Lee Alday of Omaha, NE and Grant Alday and wife Jody of Shelbyville; several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Charles L. Alday.

A time of remembrance will be held from 2:00-3:00 PM Saturday Feb. 28, 2009 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.Masonic rites will be held at 2:45 PM Saturday in the funeral home. Flag presentation will be made by the Shelby County; Honor Guard.Memorials can be made to the Shelby County Humane Society. In accordance with Drew’s wishes, his body has been donated to science.
