Burl D. Shuff, 100, of Shelbyville made his transition to the world of the spirit at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday (September 17, 2008) at the Shelbyville Manor. He will be greatly missed by beloved family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Pastor Jim Whitaker officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service time. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be made to the Fourth Street United Methodist Church or the Oconee Undenominational Church.

He was born July 6, 1908 in Clarksburg the son of Clay O. and Bessie Prosser Shuff. He married Mary Elizabeth Ruch in 1928 and they had three children, Winona, Robert and Charles. She preceded him in death in 1957. He then married Dorothy Weakly Sands, the widow of Noble Sands in 1958. She preceded him in death in November of 2007 after nearly 50 years of marriage.

He was a retired farmer, first farming with his father and later with his son Charles. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Westervelt and the Shelby County Farm Bureau.

Surviving are daughter, Winona Bolinger and husband George of Shelbyville; sons, Robert Shuff and wife Jane of Columbus, IN and Charles Shuff and wife Irma of Tower Hill; brother, Paul Shuff and wife Mildred of Decatur; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, brothers, Morris and Kenneth and three great-grandchildren.
