Wilma L. Plunkett, a cherished soul and lifelong resident of Findlay, Illinois, passed away on February 23, 2024, at the age of 86.
Born on August 10, 1937, in Findlay, to Harley and Bondela (Snuffin) Vadakin. She married the love of her life, LeRoy Plunkett, on Valentine's Day in 1974. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2003.
A devoted mother, Wilma's legacy lives on through her three daughters, Jody Stevens, Teresa Stevens, and Lorrie (Leroy) Welton, all of Shelbyville. She was a pillar of strength, always guiding her children with a gentle hand and an open heart. Her brother Gene (Susan) Vadakin of Mattoon and sister Linda Hartman of Decatur also survive her, along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Edsil Stevens and LeRoy Plunkett.
Known for her love of rummage sales, Wilma had an eye for treasures and a knack for transforming the old into something cherished anew. Fishing was another of her passions, offering her moments of tranquility and a chance to connect with nature's beauty. Above all, Wilma's greatest joy was found in the company of her loved ones, where every moment was an opportunity to create memories that would last a lifetime.
Wilma's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Shelbyville Manor for the loving and kind care they provided. Their compassion and dedication were a great comfort to Wilma and her family during her final days.
