Mary Eleanor Walden, 99, of Sullivan, previously of Windsor, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Mason Point in Sullivan. Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor is assisting the family with arrangements.
Eleanor was born June 27, 1918, in Windsor, the daughter of George Edgar and Mary (Sargent) Richardson. Eleanor and Harlin Jean Walden were united in marriage, in Windsor, on December 20, 1941. He preceded her in death on December 2, 2002.
Eleanor was a devoted member of the Windsor Christian Church for 92 years and the congregation's oldest living member. She will be deeply missed by her church family.
She is survived by her son, Jeff (Cristina) Walden of Southport, CT; daughter, Jane Platzbecker of Decatur; grandchildren: Veronica Platzbecker, Justin (Beth) Walden, Kyle (Luke) Hagen and Kimberly Walden; two great-grandchildren: Caroline and Eddie and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; grandson, Cary William Platzbecker; two sisters and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Windsor Christian Church with Reverend Jim Dona officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in Windsor Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Windsor Christian Church.
