Marilyn Koontz Obituary

Marilyn J. Koontz, 80, of Effingham, formerly of Shumway, passed away at 1:45 a.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

Marilyn was born September 26, 1937, in Holland Township, the daughter of Dale and Wilma (Brandt) Koontz. She was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Stewardson. She had several little dogs over the years and loved them very much. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and family and loved being a special "grandma" to great nieces and great nephews.

She is survived by two sisters: Maxine (Zane) Mayberry of Shumway and Arlene (Richard) Doehring of Stewardson; brother John (Lillias) Koontz of Midwest City, Oklahoma and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Margaret Allsop; four brothers: James Koontz, Dale Koontz Jr., Howard Koontz and Dwane Koontz; and nephew, Doug Koontz.

Private services will be held.
