Leonard Ray Stewart, 76, was surrounded by loved ones, at his rural Beecher City home, when he went to be with the Lord at 2:15 p.m. on May 7, 2017.
Born on July 5, 1940, Leonard resided with his grandmother, Edith Stewart, in Effingham, IL, where he also attended school. Leonard was a diligent worker and took pride in his work. After retiring from Matrix IV in Woodstock, IL, he and his wife made their home in the small downstate village of Holland, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Constance (Florey) Stewart; son, Kent Stewart (Rebecca) of Commerce City, Georgia; daughters, Barbara Wheeler (Mike) of Cowden, IL and Georgia Evans (Jeff) of Beecher City, IL; and special cousin Ralph Stewart (Karen) of Moccasin, IL.
Leonard was the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, playing Pinochle, and tending to his yard. Many a summer evening was spent around his fire pit, sharing stories with family. Ball season routinely found him cheering for his beloved Chicago Cubs, whom he finally saw win a World Series.
He was preceded in death by one grandson and several in-laws.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no service of any type. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City is assisting the family.
Leonard's family invites family and friends to share a story or light a candle in his honor at www.lockartgreenfuneralhome.com.
