Jeannette "Jean" Burrell

Jeannette "Jean" Burrell, 93, of Shelbyville, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 30, 2017.

Jean was born April 3, 1924, in Mattoon, the daughter of William Leon and Lilah Short. She married George Burrell and he preceded her in death on April 8, 1980. She and George owned and operated Short Furniture, Shelbyville. Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Shelbyville.

Jean is survived by her daughters: Lila (Brent) Douglas and Betty Lavelle both of Bloomington; sons: Stephen (Dixie) Burrell of Lehigh Acres, FL and John Burrell of Shelbyville; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Helen Short of Neoga.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband George, four sisters and two brothers.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home with Reverend Andrew Sonneborn officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
