Donald D. Matheny

Donald D. Matheny, 77, of Shelbyville, passed away at 8:14 a.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at his home.

A Memorial Service honoring and celebrating Don's life will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville with Reverend Kevin Ray officiating. Memorials may be made to either the Shelby Ambulance Service and/or the Shelbyville Police Department Shop with a Cop Program. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville is assisting the family.

Don was born on December 2, 1939 in Shelbyville, the son of Edward Floyd and Lola (Schrader) Matheny. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the Shelbyville American Legion Post 81, the Shelbyville Masonic Lodge #53 and the First Christian Church of Shelbyville. Together with his wife, Carol Sue Matheny, they ran Matheny Tree Service. They enjoyed doing tree trimming projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers around Lake Shelbyville. Don and Carol Sue were married in July of 1978 and she preceded him in death on May 23, 2015.

Don is survived by several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Carol Sue; son, Eric; two brothers: Darrell and Dale Matheny; five sisters: Marie Dial, Lorene Askins, Esther Edwards, Trenna McQueen and Irene at birth.
