Carl Duane Leathers departed this life on June 28, 2017.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Carl's life will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. A gathering for friends and family will be from 12:00 noon until the time of service at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, 207 N. Oak, Windsor.

Carl, a widower, was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Kay Leathers; infant son; daughter, Laura Lee VanVoorhis; brothers, Horace "Beanie" Leathers and Fred William Leathers; former wife and mother of his children, Sue (Leathers) Wade and cherished cousin, William Saveley.

Carl is survived by daughters, Denita J. Burtcheard (Paul Cutright) and Carla S. Wells (Eric Wells); grandchildren: Courtney VanVoorhis (Aaron DeSmith), Tucker VanVoorhis (Kailee Dollarhide), Carley Leathers (Andy Walley), Misty Benz-Bushling (Nick Benz-Bushling), Katheran Turner (Michael Goodwin) and Dalton Turner; six great-grandchildren; loving sisters, Esther Ellen Moore and Loretta "Fern" Ostermeier; countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Carl was born to Evelyn "Blanche" Webb and Rawland Leathers on March 21, 1939.

He served as a medic in the United States Air Force and was a loyal member of American Legion Posts #88 and #725 and the Mattoon Moose Lodge #803.
